COVID UPDATE:
Another Sad Milestone: "US surpasses 150,000 reported coronavirus deaths as the virus ravages the country."

Updated: July 29, 2020, 04:51 GMT USA
4,498,343 Confirmed cases of COVID-19
152,320 American Deaths

We live in some crazy and quite deadly times ruled by politics; rather than concern for human life.
30,000 (or more) COVID deaths a month seem to now be the accepted “new norm” for the USA. For some odd reason, people seemed to be more concerned back when the death toll was 30 individiuals all together. They now calmly accept over 1,000 new coronavirus deaths per day. Many of those deaths are avoidable.

“Even as coronavirus cases increase across the country — and as members of his administration encourage some states to reverse their reopenings — President Trump said Monday that some governors need to loosen. restrictions.”

Locally: “6 American cities and states add Missouri to quarantine lists as COVID-19 cases surge” Missouri currently has one of the highest new infection rates in the country. The state has now gone up to 13.47% and continues to increase.

Missouri health officials reported 1,773 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, marking a new record high for the state. The state broke its own record five times in the last week and reported more than 1,100 daily cases for consecutive days for the first time since the beginning of the outbreak.

Kansas City metro sees record-breaking day with more than 640 new COVID-19 cases.

According to the NFL Players Association, 107 players tested positive for COVID-19 in the offseason. Since players reported to camp, 21 players have tested positive. The data was updated Tuesday.

Due to lack of rain, it’s been very dry here for most of this Summer. However recently, we’ve now had a few days of rain. Today, I came under surprise attack today – by mosquitoes. Lots of them!!! The effect of the rain has kicked in. Ugh.

Because of these mosquitoes, I was forced to more or less stay indoors today - just like our dogs have been forced to also stay indoors because of the hawk. This sucks!!! Beyond mosquitoes possibly carrying disease, I am also highly allergic to their bite. Each bite puffs up to a small egg size, giant, red welt & can last for weeks. Trying to do some outdoors photography today, I got bitten well over a dozen times in varying places before I gave up. Mosquitoes will bite through even thin clothing.

The photo above is the last of my tormentors that I killed today. I gave up after dropping him on the deck railing... Not the best shot I’ve ever taken, but I didn’t want to take the time to change camera bodies nor to “work” the shot. I just wanted to record the event & quickly get back indoors. The mosquito was teeny tiny (about 2mm) to the naked human eye.

More rain is predicted for the next few days; so the mosquito population is only going to grow. Although I prefer not to, it looks like (if I want to do any more outdoors wildlife photography at home) I’m going to have to get out the insect repellant. I don’t think I could bear to totally stay indoors during this Stay-at-Home, required, social isolation… It’s bad enough that my dogs no longer can spend time outdoors.
