I do this a lot. I will get an old desktop and see if it has any life left in it. I ended up installing Redhat 6.2 on this HP. 5.2 had too many issues with drivers and such for the GUI to load. 5.6 was a little better but 6.2 worked fine from the get-go.
Booting from floppy was really fun so I could install it. I was able to use the 5.2 install floppy to test all 3 versions I tried. It just needed to boot to a command prompt where I could initiate the install command. CD mounted fine each time which was a relief. I was able to use the install CD for most of the install.
It has a Pentium III 650 Mhz CPU with 1GB RAM. Runs quite nicely I might add.
