I have seen many paintings and original models that disagree with your description of 18th C Danish hull painting :) And I do have to point out that this model's paint scheme is very much not a Nelson checker. The wales, lower side and upper side are black, the rest unpainted/varnished. No yellow/buff anywhere. In fact, it is not far removed from the colour scheme of the lovely original large-scale model of Fyen, 50 guns, 1736, that used to be in the Orlogsmuseet.

Impressive model. Only a pity that the color resembles a ship of the 19th century. Danish warships in the 18th century did not have the "Nelson-style" white or yellow stripe along the gunports interuptet by a black color of the gunlids. The side of the ships were uniform tarnished with a black stribe over the waterline. Later this was changed to 2 narrow white lines between the gundecks. Only after 1814 the british tradition was adopted
