A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed

Between the Fourth of July and thunderstorms
I have been spending a lot of time in the bathtub
My sister Della heard me crying and thought Stickman
Might give me some comfort
She said he was useless at playing ball
I found him to be a standup, stalwart presence
A bit stiff and wooden but calming in his quiet demeanor

The caption led me to believe it was your picture, and indeed it was. Love this one. V

I thought about Tug on the 4th when the fireworks were being set off here. Poor baby. He looks so terrified.
Bryan Murahashi07-Jul-2020 03:46
Poor Tug, hopefully the banging will stop soon.

Awww, poor Tug. Not fun with those awful loud noises. I feel so sorry for you, but at least it is over now. Fantastic shot, however. V

Wonderfully posed. What a difficult time it is for animals this time of year.

Sweet capture, Jane.

Great and very well thought out image.
Dennis Hoyne06-Jul-2020 17:54
This is so sweet! Your reassuring presence is much better than Stickman's.
William Barletta06-Jul-2020 17:19
Pretty cute. Our doggie paid no attention to the fireworks ~V~
Tom LeRoy06-Jul-2020 12:15
Poor Tug! I’m sure stick man will help calm his nerves, My cats had the same problem with fireworks. V

I'm with you Tug. All those loud banging noises should be banned - including the thunderstorms.

Love this Jane, and as always, love the caption. Picture story book is essential. I will buy one! V
Pierre Martin05-Jul-2020 23:45
add a dog who did the same but under the bed, beautiful portrait!
John05-Jul-2020 23:12
These dogs are very undertaking and in for lots of adventures. V
Hank Vander Velde05-Jul-2020 22:55
Neat behavioral shot Jane. I think it should try under the bed.
Bill Miller05-Jul-2020 22:49
I understand. My old dog Mack used to hate fireworks and we spent many hours in the basement when others were celebrating
globalgadabout05-Jul-2020 17:15
Tug's nerves must be frayed judging by his look...reassuring that Stickman shows his support..
Julie Oldfield05-Jul-2020 16:55
I hope Mr Stickman helped calmed her down. A touching capture. V
David Buzzeo05-Jul-2020 15:31
Tug is a little harsh on Stickman. :) V

Love the expression as the stick man touched the tub.
A great composition to make this story work nicely.
Nice sharp image.

awwww!
I jumped a couple of times last night myself when people shot off rockets in an area that was not allowed.
I should;d have gotten in the bathtub!

Poor Tug, he does look apprehensive, so I'm glad he has a friend to help him through the celebrations. V.

I hope you have some relief today, Tug, those loud noises are frightening. As always, your commentary is brilliant, Jane.

Great that stick man was there to help Tug get through the celebrations. V

Aw, poor Tug. Our pups don't like the fireworks either, but they did better this year than most. Having the windows closed and AC on helped.
Nick Paoni05-Jul-2020 13:16
Poor guy, I know how he feels. Glad stickman was there to offer a helping hand.
pkocinski05-Jul-2020 12:49
Poor Tug - I feel for him. Fireworks this year have been extra crazy - considering they are illegal in NYS. Wish people would get over their childish desire to set off fireworks for weeks on end.
Neil Marcus05-Jul-2020 12:23
Your commentary is charming."VV"
Tom Beech05-Jul-2020 11:57
Fully understand Tug.. One of our cats felt the same about storms and would plant himself on the stairway step at the half way point with big eyes.. no amount of comforting would help

Just be happy that your Mom doesn't take baths during these scary times 8-)

Super image nicely presented....V

Poor Tug, I'm glad you found someone to help your through the trauma of the celebration. We once had a dog that had to spend 4th of July evenings in the basement where the sounds of revelry were muffled. Stickman does look empathetic here.
