Wasp Homecoming

This years issue of wasps!
Every year we keep an eye out for nests.
Mostly for safety reasons because it good to know where they are instead
of finding them by accident and that has happened in the past with bad results.
They found a home in the rafters of the shed we call Casa Verde. (Yes! It is green.)
They actually are in a place if we are careful they could stay but it’s risky.
Being one of the better predators in the garden it’s good have them around
and the spray to kill them is actually worse than the wasps themselves.
It a dilemma but we’ll wait and see what happens.

Just remember, they are all females with a main function of protecting the growing population of young. And THEY decide if you have bothered them!

Plus - they are fun to photograph. Nice little nest they have going there. ~V~

What a cool name for you shed. I hope the wasps can keep their distance. It's not a dilemma i would wish to have. No offense. But, I have never been stung by anything. v

Interesting to see the nest, but I would not want to find one of these anywhere near my home! V

As you well know don't jostle the nest and leave them.(Easy for me to say).

Well, here's the thing... these wasps expend a huge amount of effort to create these amazing paper nest... they scoop up tiny mouthfuls of water, they scrape minute bits of wood from posts, trees, whatever they can find, and they laboriously create these quite sophisticated and clever paper nests (they actually make paper). They leave us alone if we respect and leave them alone. They don't want to attack but if they think their home (and more importanly, the young) are being attacked, they'll defend. Just as we would. So I hope you can find a way to leave each other in peace!! I am sure you will. Great photo too!

Cool close up of the nest. I prefer no to have them around.

A good decision John! Many people want to fight the wasps directly, preferably with poison; so bad!
A beautiful image of this nest! V
