The hospital ship HMHS Letitia
Launched in 1912 as a passenger liner she served on the Atlantic route until being commandeered by the Admiralty at the commencement of WW1 and converted to a hospital ship.
She served in the Mediterranean until 1917 when she started carrying injured Canadian soldiers from Britain to Canada.
On her ninth trip she ran aground in dense fog while entering Halifax Harbour while carrying 546 injured soldiers, all but one crew member were rescued before the ship sank.
