Stephenson 1 is a loose open cluster in Lyra centered around the wide double star Delta Lyrae which consists of Delta 1, the blue main sequence star of spectral type B2.5V and Delta 2, the variable Red Giant. It has been debated whether or not this star is a true binary (probably no) and whether or not this sparse open cluster is a true cluster (probably yes).
