Verla is an UNESCO World Heritage site that captures an interesting phase of development in
Finland’s history. Verla’s Groundwood and Board Mill became Finland’s first factory museum in 1972.
The buildings making up the mill’s industrial milieu were designed by architect Eduard Dippell. The museum is owned and managed by UPM.
