I retrieved this picture from a five-second video I managed to take with my cell phone. I was in my yard when this bobcat ran toward me from the wooded area. Its actual target was the small brown bunny rabbit that I had previously observed in the area on a few occasions. Everything happened so fast as you can easily observe with the blurring of the photo. The rabbit was clutched in the bobcat's mouth squealing to escape. When the cat turned and entered back into the wooded area, to my surprise the rabbit came running back pass me. The event took place in an area of about fifteen feet in a matter of a few seconds. The bobcat next lay in wait under some brush as I retrieved an SLR camera and managed to get some still photos from inside.
I made some inquiries and learned that bobcats have been on the increase pretty well throughout North America. It's the first time I saw one in the area.
