The Horse Hospital

Mostly Sides, a little of the Top

Bloomsbury, London

It was originally built by James Burton in 1797 as stabling for cab drivers' sick horses, the Horse Hospital is notable for its unique stone tiled floor. Access to both floors is by concrete moulded ramps, the upper floor ramp retains hardwood slats preventing the horses from slipping - Wikipedia

How interesting. I didn't know this existed and am happy to know that even 'back then' there was concern for their welfare. Your wonderful shot has a great vintage feel to them. V

Fascinating! The b&w processing makes the photo look old too despite the vehicle. :)

Love the idea that in the 18thC the horses were cared for enough to build a hospital for them.
