This is the Belt of Venus, a pinkish band visible above the blueish shade of the Earth's Shadow at sunrise. It is named after the the Roman goddess, Venus. There is no defined line that divides the Earth’s Shadow and the Belt of Venus, one colour band blends into the other. The Belt of Venus is quite a different phenomenon from the afterglow, which appears in the geometrically opposite part of the sky.
Because this image was taken in the northern hemisphere from a low elevation, the Earth’s Shadow, which is below the Belt of Venus, is rather narrow. However, this is by far the best example of this phenomenon I have been able to capture. All considered, it is quite incredible.
