Springtime normally is a joyous season.
This year, I have mixed feelings on this rainy day.
The Sycamore is finally coming out of dormancy. But the sky is dark...

USA
925,038 confirmed cases of COVID-19
52,185 American Deaths
Milestone: The USA has more than 900,000 cases of the novel coronavirus.
The death toll for the USA now exceeds 50 thousand souls. FIFTY THOUSAND DEATHS!!!
Think about that number. Fifty thousand human beings who were once "someone" but now no longer exist.

Giving in to recent Conservative protests to end the country's lockdown, many Republican states and regional governments are prematurely curtailing their "stay-at-home" orders. Georgia (a state that has not yet hit its peak with the virus) opened up gyms, hair and nail salons, bowling alleys and tattoo parlors today. Oklahoma lifted restrictions on salons, barbers and pet groomers. Alaska reopened hair and nail salons today. Etc. The idea of a 6 foot distancing rule suddenly seems to be a concern of the past. So what happens now?
I found this article in the New York Times: interesting https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/24/us/coronavirus-midwest-mayors-reopening.html
Mayor Lucas cares about his city. However under pressure with communities around KCMO, who knows what will be next? Will he continue to be able to protect his citizens? He's in a very difficult position.
At this point, science says it is still too soon for the Midwest to start reopening. Yet it is reopening. Along with other states in other parts of the country that should also wait. Both St. Louis & Kansas City coronavirus task forces says COVID-19 peak is near, but they also warn of 2nd deadly wave if restrictions are loosened too soon. It took AT LEAST 6 weeks to reach this point. So the problem won't automatically disappear on the same day on which the "peak" occurs. However, not understanding the situation, some foolishly seem to think all danger ends the day after the peak for this first wave of COVID. State "openings" are currently proceeding against even the US Coronavirus Task Force guidelines. Unfortunately, COVID won't stop being super contagious nor stop killing the vulnerable; just as long as we allow it to find new victims.
BTW, please don't drink or inject or do anything (other than clean inanimate surfaces) with bleach or Lysol or any other household disinfectants. I still am shocked that an American president would suggest such to cure or prevent a virus. We are living in unusual times; even beyond having to cope with this horrible disease.
