Okay, this isn't a picture of Abingdon, but of something 357,000 km away!
It was, however, taking at Abingdon, on the night of the 2020 pink supermoon. A supermoon is when the Moon
is at its closest approach to the Earth, and thus appears larger than normal. The pink supermoon occurs
in early April every year, and is thus known, not because it is pink (it isn't!), but it takes its name
from the pink flowers - phlox subulata - that bloom in eastern America at this time of year. It is also known
as the "Paschal Moon" and helps set the date for Easter. The first Sunday after the Paschal Moon is Easter,
which is why Easter falls on April 12 this year.
