I harvested everything but the kale out of a raised bed last Fall.
Cut the kale way back taking the leaves and leaving
just a row of sticks poking up out of the soil a few inches
thinking I was going to build a cover for that bed but it didn’t happen.
I did enjoy the color as the kale made side sprouts thru the winter
reminding me that I didn’t get the bed covered.
I picked some while I was photographing and it is amazingly tender!
I’ll have to do some more “not getting around to it” gardening.
I also have Kale out back that has survived it’s 3rd winter!
They are gigantic plants and already wanting to bloom, the bumble bees will like it.
Those were grown from my own seed and I am going to harvest more seed off of them this year.
That kale stood well through heavy snows, soaking rains and freezing weather
out in the open and has done well. It also has great color and flavor!
Hope you are planing or planting a garden because it’s very therapeutic.
If you plant by the moon and some of us do,
the 6th thru the 9th of April are really favorable
for many things in the garden!
Time and Tide and all that.
Stay safe!
