Louisiana Waterthrush

Texas

The Louisiana Waterthrush was my nemesis bird last month. I saw a them a couple of times at Brazos Bend State Park but really didn’t get photos like I wanted. On several visits to the Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary people told me that they had seen both Northern and Louisiana Waterthrushes during on the days when I was there but the only looks I got at waterthrushes were for one or two seconds and I never got a good enough look to tell for sure what species I was looking at. How frustrating! Especially since waterthrushes usually just bob around the water drip pumping their tails right out in the open for extended views. I don’t know what the deal was for me last month but I finally encountered one that behaved like I normally expect. This little beauty didn’t hang around for all that long because the Great-tailed Grackles were being a little too rowdy but it did offer some nice views that I did my best to take advantage of. Louisiana Waterthrush; FINALLY!
