It was pretty exciting last weekend when this Prothonotary Warbler dropped into the Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary. I had been around for much of the afternoon and I don’t recall anyone having reported one for the day when all of a sudden, this bright flash of yellow appeared right in front of me. I had to take a couple of steps back to take a photo and thankfully this little guy hung around in the same spot for a couple of minutes giving me and a couple of other observers a great thrill. We then watched with delight as he searched for food for about 10 or 15 minutes before disappearing. I didn’t see him again for the rest of the day.
