Puerta del Vino

Granada

The Wine Gate (Puerta del Vino) is one of the oldest structures of the Alhambra, it may come from the times of Sultan Muhammad III (1302-1309).
It is currently an isolated object of the Cistern Square (Plaza de los Aljibes), between the defensive towers of Alkazaba and the Palace of Charles.
She was probably part of a group of buildings that surrounded this square. The origin of name is not unambiguous,
probably derived from the Arabic words "Bib al-hambra" or "Bib al-Jamra" which means (Wine Gate).
It was an internal gate that defended access to the higher part of Alhambra.
