About twenty years ago we were up in the Boston area to visit our son Richard who was attending MIT. As we were walking around the town we happened onto a Steinway piano dealer. We went inside and started looking around. Ginny got it into her mind that we needed a Steinway grand piano, and we didn't leave that shop until she had bought it. We got a brand new one right of the showroom floor. There is a lot more to the story, but that is how we ended up with a Steinway grand piano. For the kids it was much better than our old Yamaha upright.
Anyway, it didn't see much use after all the boys went to college. It survived the house flood of 2016 and got completely refurbished at the time. Recently, Ginny has decided to start playing again. Every day from 4:30 to 5:30 she sits down and practices. I enjoy the serenade, especially because my Bose noise cancelling headphones are very effective. She is getting better every day and she is enjoying it quite a lot.
