I subscribe to Adobe's Photography Plan which costs $9.99 per month. It includes Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge which is all I need. I have been very happy with those products. Adobe issues updates every once in a while. I ran into a problem with the last set because they would download just about half way and stop dead. I tried several times and got the same result each time. So I went to search the Adobe web site to fix the problem. Honestly, searching FAQs more often that not is a fruitless endeavor. So I hunted around and found a place to initiate a chat with technical support. After waiting in line for about twenty minutes I go hooked up with Kuldeep in Jaipur. After a little back and forth which including turning off my security and firewall, we got the same result.
Now here is the cool part. I allowed him to take command of my computer and off we went. I could see what he was doing, but I had no clue about it was all about. Finally, we were ready to try again. Now, one thing about these trials is that they take an hour because our internet connection is very slow, about 3.4 Mbps or 0.425 MBps. I figure the downloads are over 1.5 Gigs. To make a long story short Kuldeep stayed on the line with me for over 4 1/2 hours and waited patiently at the end to see if everything was working properly. I have done this before with HP and TurboTax and it worked great. Ain't technology great. Also having competent support is great.
In the end I asked him what he did and he told me the culprit was Windows permissions and restrictions. Whatever, it works now.
