Construction of the Campania started in 1941 as a refrigerated transport but she was requisitioned by the government and completed as an aircraft carrier in 1944.
She saw service escorting convoys in the Atlantic and Arctic, after the war she was used as a traveling exhibition ship for the Festival of Britain in 1951. Finally decommissioned in 1952 she was scrapped in 1955.
