This work features plants and animals that are listed in Canada as threatened, endangered or extinct. Belcourt hopes that through her work we will remember the interconnected nature of existence on this planet and encourages us to abandon unsustainable paths in favor of an abiding relationship with Mother Nature.

We returned to the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery so soon after our last visit because I wanted to see an exhibit titled “Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists,” which I must say was outstanding.
From the museum’s website:
“Women have long been the creative force behind Native American art, yet their individual contributions have been largely unrecognized, instead treated as anonymous representations of entire cultures. 'Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists' explores the artistic achievements of Native women and establishes their rightful place in the art world.”
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
