St. Ivo Sapienza h was designed and built 1642-1660 by architect Francesco Borromini, the chief rival of Gianlorenzo Bernini.
The church is widely regarded a masterpiece of Roman Baroque architecture using concave and convex forms on the interior
as well as arches surrounding the exterior courtyard. . The ceiling (shown here in the first image), is a masterpiece of design
with the ceiling hexagonal drum, culminating with the coat-of-arms of its patron Pope Urban VIII Barberini.
The church is at the rear of a courtyard at 40, Corso del Rinascimento; the complex is now used by the State Archives of Rome.
St. Ivo is quite near Pza. Navona, so easy to locate if you are in the area.
