This image is from the newly created Museo degli Innocenti in Florence.
The museum is housed in the original Oespedale degli Innocenti dating from the 15th c., with arcthitecture by Brunellesch.,
The Oespedale was created as a home for orphaned babies and children abandoned by mothers who could not care for them,
and was the first of its kind in Italy, and remained so until 1875.

Today the old oespedale is updated and remodeled to house both paintings and sculpture of the period housed in a beautifully
reconstructed area with elegant lighting, as can oe seen here. Works by Ghirlandaio, Botticelli, Luca della Robbia and others of
the 15th c. are housed in the gallery shown in this image.

There is one area where the visitor can see Brunelleschi's original structure for the 14th c. roof architecture.
