------------------------------------------------------------
To assist the reunion committee with the choice of venue, it was suggested to do a survey of the classmates for their opinion.
The survey on the website below is volunteered and hosted through my account.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScFyXMqCTGDC48itTQg0IJMFFmCWKQYcFKPLxKwMnv4m2KbTQ/viewform?vc=0&c=0&w=1

Note that this survey will be done anonymously and we won't know who will be taking part in the survey.
As such it's been requested that you take part in the survey only once to ensure it is as accurate as possible.
At the same time we would like as many as possible take part in the survey to ensure it represents the opinion of the majority.
Remember, the majority opinion will likely determine the choice of venue for the reunion committee.
So also remember, as they say in Hawaii, ' No vote... No grumble '. Mahalo !

Turning out to be a wet, wild, and very windy Christmas Day in Hawaii.

Re the LV venue survey: some, having already taking part in the survey, have indicated a desire for possible change of choices after seeing input from Brenda Ignacio and others.
Although we did note above on taking the survey only once we would of course welcome anyone to change choices after reading-hearing more information.
We do ask though that you indicate having already done the survey before and are now changing choices to again ensure accuracy as much as possible.
Mahalo !

Below a link to a very nice, touching article on our late classmate.

Keep safe everyone and have a wonderful holiday season.

I thought Christmas Day in California would be clear but forecast is for wet rain and coolness.
This is not Hawaii, Green and Bright!
That's all right, we want to wish you and yours warmth, love, joy, peace and hope for the season and a Happy Prosperous New Year.

Aloha!

Damn more sad news.
The great Mel Cabang passed away today in Las Vegas.
So many fond memories of watching him perform his comedic magic at the Kalua Pit, Gold Coin, & downstairs at the Waikiki Shopping Plaza or anywhere else he would perform.
In fact he was Magician David Copperfield's favorite comedian.
Mahalo for sharing your one of a kind humor with us.
RIL!

Apologies for the late posting of the Thanksgiving wishes from classmates.
Spent the past few weeks away from my computer enjoying the holiday.
Hope you all had a great past few weeks too and thanks to Marjorie, Clint, Brenda, Norm, and Tim for their best wishes.

Having visited LV off and on since the 70s and with a daughter living there off and on for a stretch of well over the past decade I can say Brenda's assessments look pretty spot on.

Since posting the LV venue choice survey on Thanksgiving day I've noticed just 16 responses with one of those blank.
I won't post the content of the replies just yet so as not to influence future responses but will say they're pretty much what I expected.
Have and will pass on periodically the results of the survey to the reunion committee.
This voluntarily offered survey may not directly decide a venue for the reunion committee but hopefully will give them helpful guidance in doing so.
So for those who have yet to do so please give your opinion within the survey as we want guidance from more than just a handful.
Will have the survey up and available for as long as it is needed.

Mahalo and Aloha,
Hal

Aloha, Hal and classmates,

Having now lived in Henderson, Nevada, for 3-1/2 years, Robert and I perhaps offer input from a different vantage point.
Hawaii visitors seem to feel most comfortable downtown and love the local foods served there, with close proximity to several venues.
There are many pluses based on the knowns and local touches.
We have two Hawaiian Air flight attendant children who stay at Sunset Station with HAL crew, and we live a very short distance from the Green Valley Ranch Resort and Casino and are regulars there.
I attend Hula and Ukulele Competitions at Sam’s Town, and our halau performs at the Orleans each Christmas.
The Silverton has an awesome Hawaiian buffet ($22) every Saturday, and our halau has its parties there.
We only go to the strip for shows.
Red Rock is great, as is GVR; however a bit upscale.
All things considered, congestion on the strip may be a concern, yet it IS exciting.
Sunset Station is comfortable, with theaters and a fun bowling alley.
There are many possibilities!
One thing, though, is that the cost of the buffet dinner last reunion was way too high, considering that we are accustomed to AMAZING buffets for $8 to $21 at upscale resorts.
Downtown has pretty much catered to Hawaii classmates.
If that feeling of comfort and expectations can be released, there is much excitement to be discovered.
Change is sometimes uncomfortable, yet rewarding.
We LOVE hearing island words or accents at GVR, and always have happy exchanges!
I recently told Robert, “ho, this machine is JUNK!”
A nearby player immediately chuckled and asked, “you from Hawaii?”
Please know we mean only to offer some random thoughts to be helpful.
Love and wishes for healthy and peaceful holidays for our Bulldogs!
Brenda and Robert
