LUX HELSINKI 2020, SunWind, Helsinki Cathedral
SunWind is a colourful installation by Austrian light artist Teresa Mar that illuminates Helsinki Cathedral like a giant lantern
spreading light over the city. The collage-style installation has been inspired by Scandinavian history, the glow of the solar winds
and its movement between the contrasts of light and darkness and the interaction between the cathedral and the city.
SunWind shines in all the colours of the spectrum using traditional projection techniques. A picture is split by four projectors,
creating a single large scale image when projected at the same time. In the projection one will see compositions of figures and contrasts,
spreading a glowing warmth from the façade of Helsinki Cathedral out into the cold and dark night of the city.
