The northern hawk owl engaged in some late day hunting to everyone's delight. With the sun low to the horizon, the owl was busy pursuing and catching prey. Instead of eating the voles right away, the owl stored them for later consumption. Winter's cold is nature's freezer. The frozen voles will first be heated up using the owl's brooding patch and then consumed.
