Burrvilla

Deas Island

built in 1906, in the Queen Anne Revival style, the classy house was home to the Burr family, affluent farmers in the area...a caretaker and his family now live here, and the attic is occupied by British Columbia's largest bat colony...the bats provide a community service by eating large numbers of mosquitos and other insects

Beautiful house and image. I almost bought one like this here a long time ago. I wonder how the bats get in and out. ~BV~

A bit late for Queen Anne Revival, but a beautiful well preserved specimen. You composed this so well. Te dreary day makes for nice soft lighting. "V"

I hope they don't tear it down and "repurpose" it as a gaudy modern home for the
uber rich.

It is a beautiful home, both to the care takers and the bats, like Glenn I want to know about the bat guano.

Fascinating about the bats! They've chosen a well kept old house to live in - must be something to see them fly out.

Great shot David showing all its character. (Who cleans up the growing weight of the bat guano?)
