The prominent star of Mariposa Grove is the Grizzly Giant Sequoia.
This impressive tree is over 200 feet high, with a base diameter of 30 feet. The Grizzly Giant is about 1800 years old!
John Muir and President Theodore Roosevelt who visited the tree in 1903 were the impetus to create and protect the Mariposa Grove.
