We had picked up a map that focused on the Schoodic Peninsula area of Acadia, and included other public lands besides the national park. Today being Sunday would be another busy day in the Mount Desert Island area, so we picked a hike to Schoodic Mountain which is in the Donnell Pond Public Lands unit of the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands. The loop trail would take us to the top of Schoodic Mountain, then down to Schoodic Beach on Schoodic Bay, then back to the parking area. Once we gained elevation on the Schoodic Mountain Trail, we were treated to outstanding views of the surrounding area.
