The first wooden church in Janowiec was most likely erected here in the 12th century.
A new brick church was built ca. 1350.
The present-day church was founded by Piotr Firley ca. 1537, using the former Gothic church (today's Chapel of St. Ann).
The interior of the one-nave church with the separated chancel is dominated by the Baroque style with interesting altars founded by the Lubomirski family (the early 18th century).
The presbytery located next to the church dates from 1614.
