Tuftern Hamlet

Tuftern is one of the hamlets of Zermatt and lies at 2,216m above sea level. Originally Tuftern was once one of the most important cattle alms of Zermatt. Today, the hamlet is especially popular with hikers from Zermatt who want to take a break on the sun terrace and enjoy the truly magnificent view. For example, you pass tufts as you follow the flower path from Blauherd to Sunnegga. Also the Alprosenweg, an approximately 2.1 kilometer section of the flower path that leads from Sunnegga to Tuftern, is definitely worth a walk. You can reach the hamlet of Tuftern from Zermatt in about 45 minutes and enjoy true Valais hospitality and hearty regional food on the sheltered terrace of the Tufternalp restaurant.
