An antique, 19th Century or earlier tsakli painting depicting in mineral pigments, an offering of one of the Five Senses - the sense of Sound, symbolised by the Piwang ot Tibetan lute with a makara tail terminal, the fingerboard of the peg box covered with ray skin or shagreen, and the bow situated in front of the sound box which sits upon a silken scarf. In the upper left hand corner, within its own red torana, stands a Treasure Vase or Bhumpa with a conch shell stopper, upon a saffron base which matches that of the Piwang. 1 syllable in Tibetan text to the reverse. 9.2 x 12.4cm
