An antique 19th Century or earlier tsakli painting in mineral pigments depicting within a great red arched nimbus one of the 7 possessions of the Chakravartin - the Precious General, who wears the armour of an ancient warrior, forged of metal plates bound together with leather thongs and a steel helmet. He kneels on one knee on a rug edged with blue. He holds his sword in one hand, the other holding the shaft of his spear with its fur and silk ribbon embellishments beneath the iron tip. The hand rests on his hip above his bow in its leopard skin scabbard, his quiver of arrows at his back: his weapons at the ready symbolising his readiness to defend the kingdom. He wears armour with a large red silken cummerbund about his waist, and sturdy leather boots. The sleeves of his robe are flying with the action of his vigorous movement. He fights for truth and justice, and causes no harm to other beings. When the righteousness of the dharma has been established throughout the realm, and the peace of wisdom and compassion prevails, the Precious General Removes his armour and becomes the 'Precious Householder'. 3 lines of Tibetan text to reverse. 8 x 9.2cm
