Unfortunately a lot have now been replaced by wire.

A lot of time went into making that fence. It has style and character and beauty. Sad to hear they are using wire fencing to replace these.

an old rail fence, particularly the zig-zag design, seems more evocative than any wire barrier...just the POV to catch the style and setting..
