Taken during a quick stop at Constitution Gardens, on the National Mall in Washington.

I found the heron just off an island that was blocked by a gate for some unknown reason and full of ducks, who moved out of my way as I approached the heron, maybe 10 feet from me. He wasn’t doing very much, but I enjoyed getting some close-up shots of him just like old times ;-).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
