LAC LA BLANCHE TRACK

Destination Paddled: Lac La Blanche, Mayo, Quebec
Date: September 5, 2019
Number of Paddlers: 3
Temperature: 22C (71.6 F)
Distance paddled: 10.8 km ( 6.7 miles)

This is a location we have paddled twice before. Last time was in September 2016. It is about 40 km ( 25 miles) from us and we got there by taking the ferry crossing across the Ottawa River to Quebec. This is a lake set in the Gatineau Hills of Quebec and as such is surrounded by hills. Makes for a beautiful paddle. The lake is 4 km ( 2.5 miles) long at it's longest and 2.9 km ( 1.8 miles) at it's widest. But it has several little islands and lots of bays to explore. There are very few cottages/homes on it and about half the land is set aside as a nature preserve.

We did not see too many birds but we did see a Blue Heron, a few Canada Geese, and a Cormorant.

We did meet up with two other kayakers on the lake. A couple of boats off fishing on the other side of the lake from us were all the boats we saw. Very peaceful lake.

We stopped for lunch at the nature preserve. They had a picnic table set out on an outlook. Great view from there.

Enjoy the pictures.
