BIF: A Raven on Silver Wings

I particularly like the idea that other birds from above may not see this bird as black as we do, but rather as a silvery thing below them.

Looks flattened.

This is great. I went for similar perspective but achieved none of the sheen when in Switzerland two years ago. I'll put a sample in Pending.

Hummm, then so will I (it is certainly easy enough to find!)...thanks, Jim. Traveller

T - re AI/Servo.
There really isn't a lot to know. This mode is meant to help focus better on any subject that is moving towards or away from you.
All you need to do is just choose it. If the subject isn't moving, you lose a little calculation time, but for the most part it won't be noticed.
My mode of operation - if I am shooting any subject that might move, animal or human, car or airplane, I set the mode to AI/Servo.

No, I don''t much know how to use AI/Servo on moving targets...but you are maybe correct, this is something I need to learn. Best Wishes, Traveller

Did you use AI Servo?

What a very fine capture.
You should be proud of this.

He was ridding a warm on shore breeze coming down into a valley before the ocean. I know this area and I generally stop here on my way south...I will try to snap birds in flight here because I know where they are going, generally.

I was tracking the Raven for a straight shot but he was coming in so fast that I panned him going left to right...and damn, surprised me! It actually worked...(since I am not particularly good at this...but maybe once in a while).

I adore the detail.

How did you capture him up so close? At 85mm he had to be very close. Paul
