Bear In a Field

You know how it is with a prime lens - zooming in means moving closer to your subject.
Occasionally I retain a modicum of good sense behind the lens, however, and opted to be content with the available focal length.
He knew I was there. We left each other alone.
Next time of course I will have along the 70-300 and he will be nowhere in sight.

Nice compactor and expansive view. The bear is shown in a beautiful context.

Glad you stayed safe! Looks like it is a pretty good sized bear. Nicely composed, love the light and those interesting clouds.

You're lucky to see him out in the open like that - perhaps its habitat is dwindling. Well placed in the image.

Take a mirror too. Next time He might be behind you. What an adventure you got here Kevin. VV.

Great catch of this bear in the vast green field. They do run away. The sky is very dramatic too. V.

Isn't that always the way? Nice to see the expanse of his home, though.

I like it. Isn't that the way it happens most of the time with lenses and wildlife?

The encounter is worth the 50mm for sure! You might get lucky with the zoom next time. V

I think it's perfect with the bear -- not a small animal -- a tiny figure in that expansive landscape.

You mean that you couldn't explain that you wouldn't hurt it and just wanted a closeup. How do you say "cheese in Bear ...

That is too bad that you didn't have your zoom lens but you still managed a nice image, Kevin...

What an encounter. It definitely comes alive with photo and text. In fact, I think this is a very compelling image with the bear a small figure under that big sky. V
