And no ..... I did not see Santa Clause. Of course with the river named this, that was what I thought of. This location is somewhat in the back country of Eastern New Brunswick. It is
about 50 km (31 miles) north east of Moncton. Near Richibucto, New Brunswick, the Richibucto River starts in the Northumberland Strait, between Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. The Richibucto River flows past Richibucto then past Rexton and comes to just north of Mundleville where the river splits and the South Branch of the St. Nicholas River flows. This was another place that I had never paddled before. It is both salt water, and tidal at least for a ways. We were there at high tide. Best of all, NO power boats. Not one. We did see three other kayakers.
We did see lots of Canada Geese. Also saw sea gulls, a couple of Sand Pipers and one Bald Eagle. Wish I could of got a picture of the Bald Eagle but it was too far away for my camera and too high. Very pretty area with very few homes or cottages. The day was just about perfect with no winds on the way out and only light wind on the way home. As a result the reflections in the water were spectacular. We paddled against the tide on the way out and with it on the way back.
Enjoy the pictures.
