When your property is larger than the country of Belguim the supply store wasn't easy to reach. Damper and Golden Syrup was a popular favourite of drovers and the camp cook always had plenty on hand.

Interesting tins! Sugar was big money in that era. The jar with the gears is a hand held churn. Turn the crank, spins the paddles, time and elbow grease give you butter. You make your butter when you need it because there is no way to keep it cool! V
