Prime Day

Jeff Bezos started selling books online back in the early 90’s.
Realized he could sell anything on the internet.
In 1995 he raised $1 million from 22 investors.
The first question every investor asked was: ‘What’s the Internet?
While he was doing this people in small towns everywhere were protesting
Walmart coming in and killing off their local businesses,
Walmart’s were built and most people adapted by competing with better service.
Turns out the real wolf at the door was Amazon.
Pretty hard to compete with a “store” that has everything and
will ship it to your door in a day or two, plus you can return it.
Shop from your computer or phone… anyway you get the point.
It’s to easy!

Happy Amazon Prime Day 2019!

I always try to support local merchants. But the other day I needed a part for my bike rack. The best the local dealers could do was $69.00 and a two week wait. My son-in-law ordered it for me from Amazon at 9:30 Saturday night. I had the part on Monday at 10:30 AM. Oh, it cost $30.00 and shipping was free.

It makes it hard to support local, but I will do my best. V

Amazon is so damn convenient - they'll be delivering by drone soon !!

I am no fan of Amazon but very occasionally there is no other means of getting a book I want. I prefer bricks and mortar stores! A cool commentary and shot. V

I personally prefer supporting local businesses. Don't want to live in a world without the personal interactions but sometimes the only place I can find what I'm looking for is Amazon

My earliest amazon.com order is from early 1998, when they sold books only. Back then you had to call their office in New Castle, DE to phone in your credit card number.

It is a convenience that I'm getting used to it since my wife who did the buying is gone.
