I believe C5 may have once been under the command of my great uncle, Commander Robert Charles Thornber Roe. So he may even have been in the picture. In earlier days, he was put ashore with a wireless party on an island near Chile (to observe enemy shipping) He was left behind by his ship HMS Good Hope which was, soon after, lost with all hands at the Battle of Coronel He and his party were safely recovered by HMS Canopus.
