En 1868, sous la direction de l'architecte François P. Giraud, la cathédrale fut considérablement agrandie dans le style gothique, ce qui forma la nef existante. Les stations de croix en pierre taillée ont été ajoutées en 1874. Les vitraux remarquables ont été ajoutés en 1920 .
