In the moment of their junction they rush together against the mountain, rend it asunder, and pass off to the sea. … This scene is worth a voyage across the Atlantic,” were words spoken by Thomas Jefferson to describe the view from this point during a visit to Harpers Ferry in 1783. The rock where he stood was named after him.
This is sort of comical with the sign in view, yet sad that the people ignored it. We thought maybe they didn’t understand English, but the graphic is pretty clear.
