Destination Paddled: Green's Creek, Orleans, Ontario
Date: June 13, 2019
Number of Paddlers: 4
Temperature: 22 C (72 F)
Distance paddled: 13.5 km (8.4 miles)
Haven't done this paddle since 2015 so it was due. We put in on the Ottawa River about 1.8 km (1.1 miles from the entrance to Green's Creek. We paddled along the Ottawa River to the entrance to the creek. Passed by some nice river front homes and a lot of debris high up on the shoreline. The debris, including several docks that had been washed away, was the result of the record flooding this spring.
We had conflicting forecasts for high winds (or not) and rain (or not). Turns out, “or not” won out. No high winds or rain.
One of the most startling things on this paddle was to find another kayak! No owner but the kayak was up on the bank along the creek. Never seen anyone else on the creek before.
Saw some Blue Heron and a few turtles.
Enjoy the pictures.
