It was a good day on Kauai. It started out with sunrise photography on the beach. Ginny really likes to do that. Then to Shipwreck Beach for a little hike and some photography, of course. Next stop was the spouting horn, a blowhole that was pretty spectacular. Even the relatively mild wave action today it gave a nice geyser.
We still had some time on our hands before the evening event, so it was off to the Kauai Museum. It was small but interesting. There were quite a few relics of the time of the kings. I like seeing old things and imagining how it would be to utilize those things. There was also a live music performance by a guy named Larry Rivera. Sounds Hispanic, but he is a native Hawaiian. There are lots of different cultures in Hawaii who enjoy their heritage but are really Hawaiians. Ginny got called out for some audience participation and really enjoyed it.
Our evening entertainment was a guided tour of Allerton Gardens in Koloa. It is part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, of which there are several. Our guide was very knowledgeable about all this plant stuff. We ended the evening with a nice dinner and pleasant conversation with the other guests.
Today's photo is at the base of one of the Moreton Bay Fig trees along the river. We are holding a dinosaur egg. This is where the scene of discovering the hatched dinosaur eggs in Jurassic Park was filmed. There are lots of films made in Kauai.
