Beads of Courage
The Beads of Courage Program is a resilience-based intervention designed to support and
strengthen children and families coping with serious illness. Through the program children tell
their story using colorful beads as meaningful symbols of courage that commemorate milestones
they have achieved along their unique treatment path.

The children need vessels to hold their beads and woodworkers contribute bowls and containers to the effort.
These bowls are from kits sponsored by the Dallas Area Woodturners (DAW).

Beads of Courage: Our members turn lidded boxes that are donated to hospitals that are
treating sick children with cancer, heart, blood, and other serious diseases.
These kids receive a special bead for each procedure they endure.
They store their beads in these elaborate boxes which they treat as treasure chests.
