Fireplace by Jean Goujon (1510 - 1565) a French sculptor born in Normandy, who worked on the Louvre and châteaux in the Paris area. The initials on the fireplace are the intertwined letters C for Catherine and H for her husband Henri II. The C's also form a D which could be taken for Henri's mistress, Diane de Poitiers.
