The Green Green Grass of Home

Inspired by a crime scene in the film “ The Asphalt Jungle “ about a condemned prisoner longing for home.

Released in 1966, this was singer Tom Jones’ biggest hit in the UK and the first Decca single by a UK artist to sell a million copies in the United Kingdom.

Decca also had the Rolling Stones in the UK, so Tom really did do well.
Around 1978, I had a trip to Decca's factory in south west London. Actually part of my accountancy education - it was to illustrate how costs got added in the process of different stages of manufacture.
