The Houston Zoo is a very nice place to visit. We decided (wisely) to get there when it opens and hopefully avoid the crowds. We were standing in the ticket line when my daughter in law had the bright idea to buy the tickets online. That was successful and we just walked in the gate.

It was a very nice day for a visit to the zoo. We circumnavigated the grounds and saw about everything they wanted to see. The grand kids got a chance to feed the giraffes which was a lot of fun for them.

We stayed the whole morning and decided to head out about noon. Outside there was an intractable traffic jam. Fortunately, we were headed out, but I would wager that people were waiting more than an hour just to get to the parking lot.

We had a very nice barbeque lunch at the Pit Room then headed home. We went to the park and had a good walk. I made meat loaf for dinner and a good time was had by all.

In case you have forgotten, here is a good song about the zoo.
